Like the Tour de France, the Paris-Brest-Paris (PBP) federates and gives rise to creative initiatives on the side of the roads. This is why the organizers wish to encourage and develop the festivities to celebrate the 20th edition of the "PBP".
Even if the "PBP" event remains amateur, it has an organization that uses solutions from sports event professionals. It is this French know-how that the Paris-Brest-Paris Randonneur® will have the opportunity to relay.
This year again and for the second time, the city of Rambolites wanted to host the Paris-Brest-Paris Randonneur®. The prospect of the castle as a place of departure and arrival will provide a magnificent scenic setting for the hike.
An institutional opportunity for the French Cycling Federation
Through the management of the largest cycling project in the world, the leaders of the Parisian Audax club offer the entire federal pyramid the opportunity to take advantage and fully experience the event; to all the decentralized federal structures, from the regional cycling tourism committees to the clubs via the departmental cycling tourism committees, to ensure the relay and to associate all the licensees with the Paris-Brest-Paris Randonneur®.
New for 2023
To celebrate the 20th edition of the famous hike, the route will be partially renewed, mainly in Brittany. While retaining the usual control sites, but deploying new points dedicated to secret controls, the route will increase security by avoiding the crossing of groups of cyclists between Tinténiac and Brest.
It will also make it easier to share the road with other users. The validation of the new route was obtained following two reconnaissances carried out in November 2021 and October 2022.
Each time, the regional teams have been involved in the search for new areas of progress, and there have been many exchanges with the “Long distance” commission of the French Cycling Federation.
Departures and arrivals on the Ile-de-France site will take place in the perspective of the Château de Rambouillet, within the same park, near the city center, and will avoid using paved accesses or delicate traffic axes.
To sum up, the novelties of this edition will be the start and finish near the Château de Rambouillet as well as a modified route. For the rest, we do not change a winning team!
